Barcelona!

The cosmopolitan capital of Spain's Catalonia region, Barcelona is known for its distinctive art and architecture which creates a city with a truly unique and enchanting identity. Here are our 8 favourite things to do in Barcelona:

  1. LAS RAMBLAS
This is Barcelona's most famous pedestrian, tree lined boulevard which stretches over 1.2kms. It's an absolute must for tourists wanting to experience Catalan culture, food, art and shopping. But please be aware -
Las Ramblas is a haven for pickpockets!
  2. LA BOQUERIA MARKET
Located on Las Ramblas, you will find Barcelona's most famous food market
brimming with olives, seafood, fruit, meats, cheeses and much, much more.
  3. SAGRADA FAMILIA
The cathedral is Gaudi's most impressive work and an UNESCO World Heritage
Site. Building of the cathedral commenced 140 years ago and is predicted to be finished in 2026. Once completed, it will boast 18 towers, with the tallest reaching 172 metres, making it the tallest religious structure in Europe.
  4. CASA BATLLÒ
Another of Gaudí's fairytale like creations, this building is an apartment block that's been converted into a work of art. Inspired by the marine world, the entire façade is designed using glass and ceramic mosaic which illuminates against the sun.
  5. CASA MILA
Also known as La Pedrera, as the front of the building looks a bit like the face of a quarry. Casa Milà was completed in 1912 with the Mila family occupying the main floor and renting out the other apartments.
  6. PARK GÜELL
Round off your Gaudí experience with a trip to this garden complex on Carmel Hill. You'll find gardens, serpentine benches and other unique architectural features. Be sure to enjoy the gorgeous panorama over Barcelona from the main terrace.
  7. PICASSO MUSEUM
The Picasso Museum is dedicated to the life and works of Pablo Picasso - the
father of contemporary Spanish art - housing a whopping 4,000 of Picasso's
    works.
  8. TIBIDABO HILL
The highest point in Barcelona and the best place to get a 360 view of the city. It's also home to a gorgeous church, Sagrado Corazon de Jesus designed by Sagnier.

This list will ensure you see the highlights of Barcelona but there's plenty more to explore! Have you been? What would you add to the list?
